I come from a family of artist & musicians. As a kid I'd copy Disney characters and trace Marvel superheroes. That got me started on a formal path as an artist. These influences affected my preference for rich, deep colours with a strong contrast. Many of my earlier sketches were done using ink and texta. Later oil, gouache, ink and more recently acrylic. There is still alot for me to improve on but I usually feel satisfied with artwork when it has emotional content and is technically correct. Moving into design, has seen more work done digitally,
although I still start off with a pencil - usually a 'B'. I find being an artist / illustrator helps me be a better designer, especially with conceptual development where I can sketch out my ideas and then show them to the client. |

CHARACTERISATIONS: These drawing roughs were taken from a series of drawings I did for a Cafe Chalkboard Menu. The family group were redrawn and adapted for an eLearning project but I'm sure they would work great as an animation. One day maybe.. |

CHARACTERISATIONS: Originally created for a T-shirt design, I have plans to continnue this one on with maybe a small animation. The Billabong Kids has been done before although its the styling of the characters which I would like to see animated. |
