WEB & INTERFACE DESIGN:
Building with Flash, Html and Css

With over 6 years experience as a Web designer, I offer affordable, personalised website designs. Tailored to suit branding, personality and industry. My aim is to deliver a unique site which reflects the clients character, be it a business or an individual.

To begin with, following preliminary discussions on 'look & feel' and sitemap navigation, a process is put in place which takes us from referencing and industry research, onto conceptual development where the layout design is finalised. Next is the build, followed by adding content followed by tweaking. With comprehensive and flexible reviews in place (up to 3 revisions within each of the 3 major stages) allowing for changes to be made on time and on budget. If you want something different, than you've come to the right place.

MOTION & ANIMATION:
Flash Animation and After Effects

From 1991 up until 1999, I worked with the Australian Walt Disney TV Animation Studio located in Sydney's Surry Hills. Starting off as an Inbetweener, moving onto become an A-Grade Animation Assistant before shifting to Layouts. My time at Disney's taught me about timing, volume and movement while giving me a great opportunity to work with some of the World's best animators.

I have transferred these skills over to the digital realm using them within programmes such as Flash and After Fx. Having conceived and created over 25 swf 30second movies and 5 or so AFX 30sec commercials. I create the storyboard, working out scenes and sequences and then create the artwork whether traditional or digital and then composite the elements. Having been taught how to read music and play instruments as a child, I utilise these skills by adding music and sound effects using Sound Forge.

CD LAYOUTS & LABELS:
Covers, Inners and Discs

With a love of music and a vinyl collection to back it up, creating artwork for CD's is one of the most enjoying and satisfying projects to work on. Collaborating with other creatives in reaching a solution can be challenging but if the final . solution is successful, than the stress is worth it.

My vinyl record collection offers great inspiration and reference material at hand which is a fantastic resource whendeveloping new artwork for a CD. Seeing the variety in colours, layout, and overall designs is a big help in educating and stimulating me when producing my own CD label designs. This format is neat.

PRINT ASSIGNMENTS & DTP:
Logos, Layouts, Posters, Booklets, DL cards, Brochures, Flyers, Packaging, Signage, etc.

Layout and typography is all about balance. Is there a text hierachy? A table grid? Too much or not enough space? Questions and decisions which lead to either a good layout which is easy to view or to a cacophany of elements.

To be the best one must learn from or mimic the best. My early inspirations in learning layout and design were drawn from viewing design mags such as DeskTop and Australian Creative aswell as work created by people like Ken Cato. I also maintain an evergrowing collection of flyers, DL cards and other material which I consider to be quality design. Producing my own layouts, I put into practice what I have learnt and always strive to produce clean, balanced and innovative layouts.

ARTWORK & ILLUSTRATION:
Pencil, Ink, Gouache, Acrylic, etc.

Studying Fine Arts, Design and Architectural Drafting, along with having worked with Disney's for over 8years have provided much experience as an artist, illustrator, painter and draftsman. Using ink, pastels, pencils, chalks, gouche, acrylic, oils, textas. My main influences are Dali, Whiteley, Van Gogh, Gaugain, Toulouse Lautrec, Cassett, Cossington-Smith, Degas, Moore, Rodin, Casab, Michelangelo Modigliani, Streeton, Tucker and a host of others. The one constant is that all are consumate drafts men and women.
